Good morning friends!
Everyone at the school still misses seeing y’all everyday. It’s so weird being in the cafeteria without centers and all the noise of you guys talking to each other. AND it’s so weird seeing all the playgrounds empty. To help with anyone who is missing all their old teachers or school employees, After school created an About Me! Page on our blog that will allow teachers & staff of Hardin Park, After School & Holiday Snow Day to fill out and tell y’all some of their favorite things about them. If you’re missing your teachers, check out our page and see if you can learn anything about all your teachers & adults that y’all miss so much!
There’s also a countdown on the home page that will count down until the first day of after school in August, where I will be waiting at the cubbies to hug every single one of you!!
Have a wonderful weekend & happy mothers day to all of the AMAZING parents of after school. We appreciate every single one of you. Kiddos- make sure you hug your parents this weekend & let them know how awesome they are :)

Here’s what we’ve been doing!
We have exciting news! Mr. David has been working these past few weeks to paint our centers & make them look really good! We started by painting them gray, and we decided to write the center names on the centers so we don’t have to tape the signs on them anymore! Look at how good they look! Thank you Mr. David!
Also, thank you to everyone who has been chatting and meeting with the group leaders and Ms. Hayley. We have gotten to talk to lots of you! Starting after spring break, we are going to have daily times that you guys can join hangout sessions with us! Stay tuned for that!
I hope everyone has an awesome spring break! I’ll talk to you when you get back! Here are some things you can do over spring break:
I love y’all
Ms. Hayley :)
So we miss all of the kids a TON and we want to meet with them on Google Meet! We can talk, play virtual games, help with homework or just hang out! But, we can’t do this without parents filling out this form. It will only take about 20 seconds, only has three questions AND it’s one form per family! Please fill out this form, we miss seeing your kids!
Ms. Hayley :)
Hey everyone! Today I just wanted to check in with everyone and make sure you’re all doing well. Please email us if there is anything we can do to help make your days easier. We miss all of your smiling faces and are hoping to meet with everyone on Google Hangouts soon!
Here is what all of us have been up to:
Ms. Hayley has been spending time with her roommates and spending a lot of time outside. She has been doing homework & applied for graduation. She graduates from her Masters program in May!!
Mr. John has been golfing when he’s not at Hardin Park. He is also helping out with the food program everyday. He even went kayaking on Sunday!
Mr. David has been painting a still-life and is working on music. His birthday is today, so he celebrated his birthday with Outback delivery! Happy Birthday Mr. David!
Ms. Eliza has been laying pretty low. She’s been going to the high school to help prepare and give out meals with our wonderful staff of Watauga County schools. That’s what she will be until we all go back to school. :)
Ms. Brie has been spending as much time as possible outside in this beautiful weather! She has also enjoyed spending time with her family. She misses her blue group, and hopes they are all doing well!
Ms. Addie has been going on daily walks with her dog Boomer and cooking new recipes! She misses all of her orange group kiddos!
Ms. Alex has been working like crazy to keep up in her now-online classes (you guys aren’t the only ones I promise!) and spending lots of time with her cat Trooper. Ms. Alex thinks Trooper is wondering why she keeps interrupting all of her naps by being home all the time!
Ms. Lydia has been doing at-home crafts and working at hungry howies. Lilo and Ms. Lydia have been playing a lot and she has as much energy as all the kids at Hardin park in her!
I feel like telling y’all that I miss you everyday is repetitive, but I will keep saying it until you come back to school. We miss all of you so much!! Over the last week, we’ve been painting the centers & a mural on the way. Okay, I say we, but it was actually Mr. John & Mr. David that did all the work. I was only really here for encouragement, yelling “Go team” at random times. Here is a time lapse of David painting the mural on the wall. We will send the pictures of the centers when they are done. Don’t forget about the food program at HP, Monday-Friday nights from 4-6.
Hey all you cool cats & kittens (if you know, you know)
Mr. John & I played the ABC game with words related to after school. We strugglin. What words would y’all use if this was the category we used when we play on the playground? Also if you know words for U, X or Z please let me know because I can’t think of any word except zebra
Five O’Clock Snack
Keeping up with After School
Light Brite OR Looming
Mancala OR Muffin Day
Toter OR Technology
Wash your hands
What is up friends and family (my older kids know I say that all the time when I talk to the older groups), we’ve been out of school for two whole weeks now, and I miss you all so much.
Starting this week, it is our goal to begin offering homework help via Google Hangout sessions with Ms. Hayley, Mr. John, or Mr. David. We can help you guys with any homework or classwork that you’re struggling with at home. You can also chat with us in hangouts if you have questions or want to talk to anybody, play the ABC game, or just miss talking to us!
On our blog, there is a tutoring page with youtube links to instructional videos for some of the homework that’s been sent home. There is also a google request form for anyone who needs the one-on-one help. We are available to help from 12-4 on Monday-Friday while schools are closed. Get your parent’s permission and chat with us on Google Hangouts! You can contact us by typing elc_hp or Hardin Park ELC into the chat box!! Talk to y'all soon!
Ms. Hayley :)
Hey hi hello after school!
Today I want to encourage everyone to participate in the scavenger hunt that Mr. John put together. It’s really cool, and is a great way for you and your family to get outside. It’s supposed to be really nice this weekend, so this is a way to get some fresh air and exercise outside while you take a break from your work at home! You have to do the pages in order but can rearrange the trails however they make the most sense for your family! Make sure parents and kids work together on this one!
I went on four of the trails with Mr. John, Ms. Alex and Ms. Lydia and they were tons of fun! I have one more trail to do tomorrow before I can move on to pages three and four! We were actually much more put together than I thought we would be! I forgot to wear converse (the one time I actually wore cute shoes), and got water in my shoes, and I almost fell in mud, but it was all good! I learned I would not be able to count 500 feet without technology and I need to improve my spatial awareness, but my phone figured it out (thank's to the kids who showed me the measurement app on my phone when we did World Record Day).
Don’t forget to send us pictures of you & your families on the trails. Maybe I will get to see you (from a distance) on trail five tomorrow :)
Miss you all!
Ms. Hayley :)
